Milos Raonic: 'I should have taken more risks'

Milos Raonic believes that he should have taken more risks in his first-round victory over Illya Marchenko at the Australian Open.

Milos Raonic has claimed that he should have taken more risks in his straight-sets victory over Illya Marchenko in the first round of the Australian Open.

The Canadian produced an impressive serving display to secure his place in the second round, but he admitted to not feeling completely satisfied with his performance against the Ukrainian qualifier.

"It was what I needed it to be, especially with how well I served, I probably should have stepped up and taken a few more risks on the return games," the eighth seed told the official Australian Open website.

"I felt at some points I got a little monotone with my game and I sort of stooped into a not-so-effective gameplan, especially on the return side. Other than that, it was what I needed it to be for a first round."

Raonic will meet Donald Young in the second round on Thursday.
