Austrian winners dedicate silver to teammate

Eirini-Marina Alexandri dedicates her synchronised swimming silver to Austrian teammate Vanessa Sahinovic, who is still in a coma after being hit by a bus in Baku.

Austria's Eirini-Maria Alexandri has dedicated the silver she won in the synchronised swimming to teammate Vanessa Sahinovic, who was hit by a bus in the Athletes' Village on Thursday.

Sahinovic remains in an induced coma after three of the Austrian team were involved in the accident, and Alexandri, who claimed silver in the duets competition with twin sister Anna-Maria Alexandri, admits that the 15-year-old was on their minds.

"This for Vanessa," she told reporters. "We are proud of what we have done. It has been very difficult but we have had very big support from our Olympic committee and Austria.

"It was very difficult to concentrate on competing here after what happened but we have had messages of support from all over the world."

The accident left Sahinovic with spinal injuries and multiple broken bones.
