Chris Robshaw bemoans poor start in South Africa defeat

England captain Chris Robshaw bemoans his side's poor start in their narrow loss to South Africa, which was their fifth defeat in succession.

England captain Chris Robshaw has blamed his side's slow start for their 31-28 defeat to South Africa at Twickenham on Saturday.

Tries from Jan Serfontein and Cobus Reinach put the Springboks in command of the game before Stuart Lancaster's side fought back.

However, a score from Schalk Burger and a drop goal put Pat Lambie put the game beyond England's reach, despite a late try from Brad Barritt.

Robshaw told Sky Sports News: "I think we were a bit reactive today, we allowed them to get ahead of us and then we had to play catch up.

"We had a brilliant patch out there where we got two driving mauls going but unfortunately we allowed them to get their driving maul going too.

"It's tough to take, especially at home, but we'll have to work hard and come back next week."

Lancaster's men face Samoa in their next Autumn International as they look to end a run of five straight defeats.
