Shontayne Hape believes that he will not be included in Stuart Lancaster's England squad for the Six Nations.

Shontayne Hape believes that time is ticking on his England career as he expects interim England coach Stuart Lancaster to make wholesale changes for the Six Nations campaign.

The London Irish centre, who has 13 caps for the English national team, insisted that he won't retire from Test rugby even if he is dropped by Lancaster.

"It is time to start rebuilding for the next World Cup," said Shontayne. "It is time for the young guys to step up and take charge and get that experience of playing in big games.

"I got to win the Six Nations, which was a treat, and I think it is time for the young guys to experience that. You have to start looking at the new breed coming through.

"The only way they learn is if you play them. I am a big believer in chucking young players in there to see what they can do. On the way if older guys are selected to help out, then so be it. I wouldn't say no if I was selected, but I wouldn't be hanging my hat on it."

Temporary coach Lancaster is expected to be replaced by a permanent appointment following England's campaign in the Six Nations.
