Denis Betts: 'Widnes Vikings will rise to playoff occasion'

Denis Betts insists that Widnes Vikings will "rise to the occasion" when they take on Warrington Wolves in next week's Super League playoffs.

Widnes Vikings coach Denis Betts has insisted that his side will be up for the challenge of taking on derby rivals Warrington Wolves next week.

Despite suffering a heavy 36-6 defeat at the hands of Salford Red Devils on Friday, the Chemics advanced through to the playoffs for the first time.

"We will be a different team next week. We've already spoken about that in the changing rooms tonight," Betts told the club's official website.

"We will rise to the occasion as it's the semi-finals, but our standards have to be there every week – that's our next level and to do that week in week out. We need to find that level of consistency."

Stef Marsh is a major doubt for Widnes heading into Saturday's encounter having limped off against Salford with a calf injury.
