Cheryl Maas enjoying herself in Sochi

Cheryl Maas, one of six openly gay athletes at the 2014 Sochi Games, says that she is enjoying herself in the Russian city.

Dutch snowboarder Cheryl Maas has said that she is "having a good time" at the Sochi Olympics.

Safety and security in the Russian city came under scrutiny in the build-up to the 2014 Winter Games, but the 29-year-old has seen nothing out of the ordinary yet.

"I had a really great time, I've nothing bad to say so far," she told Russia Today.

"It's well organised. People are really friendly here and we are having a good time."

Maas is one of six openly gay athletes competing in Sochi.
