Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery 'suing CNN after pic was used without permission'

Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery reportedly takes legal action against CNN after the broadcaster used a photo of the footballer without permission.

Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery has reportedly begun legal proceedings against American broadcaster CNN after a photo of the footballer was used for a news story without his permission.

CNN published a picture of the Frenchman, who has been out injured since March, in a cryotherapy box.

The image was positioned alongside the headline 'Woman found frozen in cryotherapy, health trend called into question'.

Ribery's lawyer Carlo Alberto Busa told RMC: "Mr Franck Ribery never gave his authorisation and his consent for the use of this picture of his image to this publication.

"Mr Franck Ribery and his family instructed me to go to French court to seek damages of at least $1.5m (£1m)."

The 32-year-old is not expected to return to action until next year.
