British judoka Megan Fletcher optimistic despite missing out on medal

British judoka Megan Fletcher fails to medal at the Astana Grand Prix in Kazakhstan, but is optimistic that she will get back on track.

British judoka Megan Fletcher is looking ahead to her next test after failing to medal at the Astana Grand Prix in Kazakhstan last weekend.

The 25-year-old beat Maria Portela in the third round, but failed to get past German Szaundra Diedrich in the bronze-medal match.

"Fifth is always a disappointing number," the Bath Chronicle quotes Fletcher as saying. "I'm hoping there will be a grand prix medal for me soon. Bring on next weekend."

Fletcher, who won gold for England in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in the summer, will next compete in Uzbekistan.
