GB gymnast Max Whitlock replaces Nile Wilson in World all-around final

Max Whitlock replaces Great Britain's Nile Wilson in the all-around final at the World Gymnastics Championship in China due to injury.

Great Britain's Max Whitlock has been called on to replace Nile Wilson in the World Gymnastics Championship all-around final due to injury.

Wilson has withdrawn from the final due to a wrist problem, but hopes to be fit for Sunday's high bar final.

"I'm obviously very disappointed," BBC Sport quotes Wilson as saying. "My wrist was pretty sore today so I made the decision to pull out and save myself for the high bar final.

"I'll be right behind Max and Dan Purvis in the all-around and can't wait for the high bar on Sunday."

Whitlock finished in the top 24 positions required to reach the final, but was not chosen to represent Britain after finishing in a lower score than Purvis and Wilson.
