England gymnast Max Whitlock insists Athletes' Village is "amazing"

England gymnast Max Whitlock insists that the Athletes' Village at the Commonwealth Games isn't too noisy.

Team England gymnast Max Whitlock has insisted that the Glasgow 2014 Athletes' Village atmosphere isn't too noisy.

Athletes such as Olympic gold medallist Greg Rutherford have complained about the noise at the complex, but Whitlock isn't fussed.

Whitlock, 21, told Sports Mole after the first half of the men's artistic team final that he loves the "unbelievable" atmosphere that multi-sport events like the Commonwealth Games offer.

"No, it's amazing," he said. "I always love staying in the Village. I've had it a couple of times at Delhi and the Olympics.

"The atmosphere is unbelievable, you know seeing different athletes from different sports and different countries. It's great."

Whitlock and teammates Sam Oldham, Louis Smith, Kristian Thomas and Nile Wilson are favourites for the team title and currently have a lead of over six points to Scotland in second.

"Today was really good, we come together well as a team," he added. "We've been preparing for this competition for a long time now.

"The next job is the second half of the team final so that's our main focus now."

Whitlock is also the current leader of the individual all-around competition, the final for which takes place on Wednesday.
