Max Whitlock wins World Championship silver

Max Whitlock wins a silver medal at the World Gymnastics Championships.

Max Whitlock earned a silver medal in the men's pommel horse final at the World Gymnastics Championships on Saturday.

His score of 15.633 saw him beaten to gold by Japan's Kohei Kameyama, but Whitlock admitted that his earning a medal was good as his routine was risky.

He told BBC Sport: "There were bits in the routine where I thought I could have fallen off but overall I am happy.

"It was a little bit scruffy and there's room for improvement but I really can't complain with a World Championship silver medal to cap a great year for me."

Whitlock won bronze in this event at London 2012 behind teammate Louis Smith and Hungary's Krisztian Berki.
