Hideki Matsuyama claims victory at Memorial Tournament

Japan's Hideki Matsuyama wins his first tournament on the PGA Tour as he edges out Kevin Na in a playoff to claim victory at the Memorial Tournament.

Japan's Hideki Matsuyama secured his first victory on the PGA Tour by defeating Kevin Na in a playoff to win the Memorial Tournament.

The 22-year-old began the day in third place and carded a round of 69 to set up the showdown with Na in the playoff, after he recorded the best round of the day with an eight-under 64.

On the playoff hole at the 18th Na found the water and, although Matsuyama struck a spectator with his shot, his opponent's mistake allowed him to secure his maiden win with a par.

Overnight leader Bubba Watson placed in third as he narrowly missed out on the playoff by one shot due to his even par round of 72, while world number one Adam Scott finished in tied fourth.
