Jordan Spieth, Jason Day named in latter stages of singles in Presidents Cup

Jordan Spieth and Jason Day, who sit at number one and two in the world rankings, are named towards the end of the singles draw in the Presidents Cup.

USA captain Jay Haas has named world number one Jordan Spieth in the ninth match of the singles draw for the final day of the Presidents Cup.

With the USA currently holding a 9.5-8.5 advantage, Haas has opted to play the two-time Major winner during the closing stages, while his International team counterpart Nick Price has followed suit by selecting world number two Jason Day in the 10th contest.

Spieth will play Marc Leishman with Day going up against Zach Johnson, while the standout match of Sunday's play sees Rickie Fowler go head to head with Adam Scott in the second tie.

The final, and potentially decisive, match involves Bill Haas, the son of skipper Jay, and South Korean Sangmoon Bae.

Sunday's singles matches: Louis Oosthuizen vs. Patrick Reed, Adam Scott vs. Rickie Fowler, Danny Lee vs. Dustin Johnson, Hideki Matsuyama vs. JB Holmes, Thongchai Jaidee vs. Bubba Watson, Steven Bowditch vs. Jimmy Walker, Charl Schwartzel vs. Phil Mickelson, Anirban Lahiri vs. Chris Kirk, Marc Leishman vs. Jordan Spieth, Jason Day vs. Zach Johnson, Branden Grace vs. Matt Kuchar, Sangmoon Bae vs. Bill Haas
