USA will take a one-point advantage into Sunday's singles at the Presidents Cup after establishing a 9.5-8.5 lead against the International team.
After play resumed on Saturday morning with the USA holding a slender 5.5-4.5 advantage, the pairing of Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace soon levelled the score with a 3&2 win over Patrick Reed and Rickie Fowler in the opening foursomes, before the score progressed to 6.5 apiece through two tied matches.
However, USA regained the lead ahead of the afternoon four-balls as Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth edged out Jason Day and Charl Schwartzel by a 1up scoreline.
The first result of the four-balls saw Phil Mickelson and Zach Johnson extend their team's advantage with a 3&2 win over Adam Scott and Anirban Lahiri, before Sangmoon Bae and Hideki Matsuyama got the International team back into contention with an emphatic 6&5 success over Jimmy Walker and Chris Kirk.
The match was tied at 8.5 apiece after Oosthuizen and Grace continued their successful partnership by prevailing from the last hole against JB Holmes and Bubba Watson.
However, in the final match left on the course, Reed and Spieth joined forces to register a 3&2 triumph against Day and Schwartzel to give their team a narrow lead ahead of the final day of the event.
