Luke Donald says that his "comfortable lead" will be enough to hold off Rory McIlroy in Dubai.

Luke Donald believes that he has an "advantage" over Rory McIlroy, despite the Northern Irishman being in contention to knock the world number one off the top of the money lists.

The US Open champion has the chance to pip the Englishman to the top with a win at the Dubai World Championship this weekend.

"I knew Rory would put pressure on me and make it tough going, but I've still got a nice comfortable lead," The Telegraph quotes Donald as saying. "He's going to have to go out and win this week, beating a high-quality field. I think the advantage is still with me - I'm looking forward to it."

McIlroy will have to win the tournament with Donald finishing in tenth or lower in order to surpass the four-time 2011 winner.
