An invitation to play in the 2023 Masters which was intended for American player Scott Stallings was sent to a different person with the same name.

Scott Stallings has received his invitation to play in the 2023 Masters, albeit through an alternative method.

At the end of every year, the majority of the field for the first Major of the year is determined, leading to invites being sent out by the Augusta National Golf Club.

As a result of reaching the Tour Championship last season, Stallings is eligible to make just his third appearance in the tournament, nine years after his second outing.

However, unlike many of his fellow players, the 37-year-old failed to receive his invite in the post as expected, leading to the American questioning its whereabouts.

Rather than Stallings - a three-time PGA Tour winner - being forgotten, it soon emerged that his invite had been sent to the wrong address, which was occupied by another Scott Stallings.

The wrongful recipient made contact with the world number 54 via social media to explain the situation and to arrange for his invitation to be forwarded to him.

Stallings is currently in Hawaii preparing for the first tournament of the year, the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
