Rory McIlroy is looking to prepare well for next week's Masters when he tees up at the Texas Open.

Rory McIlroy believes that the challenge of TPC San Antonio will prepare him well ahead of next week's Masters.

The Northern Irishman entered the Texas Open following his second round at the Houston Open last week.

He made the decision in order to fine tune his game for the season's first Major at Augusta National.

"I'll just be trying to manage my game a little bit better [than last week]," McIlroy told reporters. "It's about putting the ball in play, leaving my ball on the right side of the pins.

"[If] I miss greens, it's [about] missing them in the right places and trying to get and down. It's all the things I'll face next week at the Masters.

"Augusta's a little more generous off the tee than this course, which is a good thing. It means I'll step up on some tee-shots next week and feel they're much wider."

The 23-year-old finished tied for 45th on four-under in Houston.
