Former world number one golfer Rory McIlroy admits that he fell for Google's April Fools' Day prank.

Former world number one golfer Rory McIlroy has revealed that he was duped by global search engine Google, who pulled a prank on its users on April Fools' Day.

The US corporation introduced a programme called 'Google Nose', which claimed that users could search for something online and smell the product through their phone or computer.

McIlroy wrote on Twitter: "Anyone else been fooled today by google nose!? I've been sniffing my phone for the last 10 minutes and not smelling anything!! Haha idiot!"

Google created a YouTube video in a bid to convince its users.
