Rory McIlroy says that he is looking for continued improvement in his final two rounds at the Houston Open.

Rory McIlroy has said that he is looking forward to the weekend after scraping past the cut at the Houston Open.

The Northern Irishman shot 70 for his second round at Redstone GC to go with yesterday's 73, which saw him land on the one-under cut mark.

The 23-year-old believes that two more competitive rounds will help him improve ahead of the Masters on April 11.

"[Today] was a little better," McIlroy told reporters. "I think there was a lot more consistency in it, wasn't as many loose shots in there and hitting more greens, giving myself plenty of chances for birdies.

"I actually putted pretty well. A few that didn't drop for me. All in all, it was an improvement on yesterday, which is the main thing.

"No-one likes missing cuts and especially as it's my last [tournament] before the Masters. It's nice to have another couple of rounds, do some work on the range this afternoon and hopefully improve on the course that I've already done."

Steve Wheatcroft leads the way on 10-under par in Texas.
