American Steve Wheatcroft opens up a one-shot lead on day two of the Houston Open in Texas.

Steve Wheatcroft has a one-shot lead after the second round of the Houston Open in Texas.

The American carded a 67 for the second consecutive day to leave him on 10-under-par overall.

Overnight leader DA Points is a shot further back with fellow American Jason Kokrak, while England's Brian Davis is on seven-under with Stewart Cink.

Lee Westwood posted an even-par 72 to give him a score of four-under with eight others, including Keegan Bradley.

Rory McIlroy improved on his opening round of 73 with a 70, but he still remains nine shots off the lead as he looks to leapfrog Tiger Woods at the top of the world rankings.

The Northern Irishman needs to win the tournament in order to move ahead of Woods.
