Lewis Hamilton incurs five-place penalty at German Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton incurs a five-place penalty at the German Grand Prix after his Mercedes team change his gearbox following a hefty crash in qualifying.

Lewis Hamilton will begin the German Grand Prix in 20th after changing his gearbox ahead of the race.

The decision to replace the gearbox came after the Mercedes driver was involved in a heavy crash in the first qualifying session yesterday.

Hamilton was due to start the race in 15th place, but the FIA have said that Hamilton will begin from further back on the grid.

Mercedes confirmed the penalty on Twitter.
