Nico Rosberg has insisted that he will 'focus on his own race' after seeing Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton qualify for the German Grand Prix in 15th place.
An apparent brake failure saw the English driver spin into the tyre barrier at Turn 9, leaving Rosberg to edge out Valtteri Bottas for pole position.
When asked how he believes tomorrow's race will pan out, Rosberg is quoted by ESPN as saying: "I still expect [Hamilton] to come through the field quickly.
"I don't know, it's difficult to predict. I will focus on my own race and I need to push anyway from the front and try to pull the gap, see where I am on the strategy."
Williams's Felipe Massa completed the top three in qualifying.
