Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Kevin Doyle suffers a thigh injury which is expected to keep him out of the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifying matches next week.

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Kevin Doyle will miss Saturday's match with Blackburn Rovers after suffering a thigh injury on Friday.

The injury is also expected to keep the 29-year-old out of the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifying games next week, but Wolves manager Stale Solbakken has insisted that Doyle is not expected to be out for too long.

Solbakken told BBC Sport: "Kevin Doyle's injury is not serious but he will miss the game tomorrow and the international games."

Doyle has scored 12 goals in 52 appearances for the Republic of Ireland.
