Michal Zyro confirmed for 12-month layoff

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Michal Zyro faces a year on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury.

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Michal Zyro will spend a further 12 months on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury earlier this month.

The 23-year-old Polish international moved to Molineux in the January transfer window and made just three appearances before suffering a calf injury that ruled him out for six weeks.

After returning to the first team, Zyro was then injured again in a rash challenge from MK Dons defender Anthony Kay on April 6.

"Michal had his op on Tuesday morning and it all went according to plan," Wolves' head of medicine Phil Hayward told the Express & Star. "He had both his cruciate ligament and lateral ligament reconstructed, along with some other structures on the outside which needed to be repaired as well. So it was a long operation, but the surgeon was very pleased with the repairs that he carried out.

"Michal will be at home over the weekend before coming back to the training ground next week to start his recovery process. In terms of timescales we are due to go back to see the consultant again in about six weeks time and same again about three months after the operation.

"Overall we are still looking at Michal being sidelined for a time frame in the region of a year."

Zyro has three goals in his seven Championship appearances for Wolves.
