Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that Ethan Ebanks-Landell will miss the rest of the season after breaking his fifth metatarsal.
The 23-year-old suffered the injury during Friday's 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough.
Ebanks-Landell has since undergone a scan and it has been confirmed that he will have surgery today.
"Ethan broke his fifth metatarsal during Friday's game and he is having surgery today," head of Wolves' medical department Phil Hayward told the club's official website.
"He is expected to be sidelined for between 10 to 12 weeks so unfortunately his season looks to be over."
Head coach Kenny Jackett added: "It is bad news for Ethan who had come through a good run in the team and had been looking for that breakthrough for a while.
"Players need that run in the team to continue to develop and it is a really frustrating injury for Ethan. For the team now we must push on and there is a big opportunity now for Kortney Hause to come back into the side."
Wolves are currently 13th in the Championship table.
