Half-Time Report: David Edwards fires Wolverhampton Wanderers into slender lead

David Edwards fires Wolves into a slender 1-0 lead over Preston North End at Molineux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have recorded a narrow 1-0 half-time lead over Preston North End at Molineux this afternoon, courtesy of a 28th-minute David Edwards strike.

The breakthrough came two minutes shy of the half-hour mark as Edwards found himself through on goal before sliding his shot beneath Declan Rudd to give the hosts the advantage.

However, the visitors came within inches of providing an immediate riposte, as Joe Garner delicately chipped goalkeeper Aaron McCarey, only to see his effort bounce off the crossbar and into the arms of the grateful Wolves shot-stopper.

Kenny Jackett's men should have doubled their advantage shortly before the break, but Michael Jacobs blazed over from close range after Rudd had denied Kevin McDonald's speculative effort.
