Seven first-round FA Cup ties took place on a chilly Tuesday evening and the six of those that were replays were decided in 90 minutes as Carlisle, Wycombe, Newport, Grimsby, Oldham and Bristol Rovers progressed to round two.
The one game that was not a replay between Bury and Cambridge United finished as a goalless draw so they will need to go at it again in two weeks' time.

Evening folks! There may be plenty of international action tonight but for fans of the 14 clubs involved tonight, the most important thing is a place in the second round of the FA Cup.
Kickoff in all seven games is at 7.45pm. Before then I'll be giving you a brief lowdown on each of ties, starting at Bury's JD Stadium...
BURY VS. CAMBRIDGE UNITED: This is the only match tonight that isn't a replay. The first leg between the two was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch at Gigg Lane, which has since been renamed the JD Stadium.

CARLISLE VS. BOREHAM WOOD: League One side Carlisle were held to a goalless draw at Conference South side Boreham Wood 10 days ago. Tonight the minnows travel to Brunton Park looking to keep their run in the competition going. Boreham Wood have reached the second round just twice in their history and if they make it a third time they will host another League One side in Brentford.

NEWPORT VS. BRAINTREE: Conference side Braintree held Newport County to a 1-1 draw in the first leg and tonight the Essex side go to Rodney Parade. A trip to Kidderminster Harriers awaits in round two.

SCUNTHORPE VS. GRIMSBY Another conference side, Grimsby Town, held Scunthorpe of League Two to a goalless draw 10 days' ago. Grimsby go into the match in fourth place in the Conference, while Scunthorpe are 12th in League Two. A visit from League Two's bottom club Northampton Town is in the next round. Teams to follow.

WOLVES VS. OLDHAM: The biggest name on show tonight are Wolverhampton Wanderers, who drew 1-1 at Oldham last Saturday. Tonight the League One leaders play host to the Latics, with Mansfield Town waiting in the second round.

YORK VS. BRISTOL ROVERS: And finally tonight is two sides who sit next to each other in 19th and 20th in League Two. York host Bristol Rovers after an exhilarating 3-3 draw in the first tie. A home tie against Crawley Town awaits the winner of tonight's match at Bootham Crescent.

GOAL! The deadlock is broken at Glanford Park where Lenell John-Lewis has put visitors Grimsby by finishing off after Colbeck had hit the post.
Remember, apart from the Bury-Cambridge game, all six others can go to extra time and penalties if required as they are replays. Newport's Twitter feed continues to amuse: "The 14 Braintree fans are making a bit of noise behind the goal."

GOAL! I predicted an easy win for Wolves but they've gone behind to Oldham at Molineux as Danny Philliskirk finds the net after Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme seemed to be fouled. The referee consulted with his assistant before deciding to award the goal.
Grimsby have a chance to make it two at Scunthorpe but the Mariners fail to get a decent touch on it and Scunthorpe keeper Slocombe grabs the ball.

Here's an update from tonight's important international games: France have just taken the lead against Ukraine and now trail 1-2 on aggregate in their World Cup qualification playoff. It's 0-0 (0-1) between Sweden and Portugal while at Wembley, England and Germany are also goalless. Iceland's dream of a first World Cup berth looks to be over as they're 2-0 down to Croatia.
So as we approach half time in tonight's FA Cup games there have been just four goals and all of them have been for away teams, with Boreham Wood, Bristol Rovers, Grimsby and Oldham leading at Carlisle, York, Scunthorpe and Wolves respectively.

Just the six goals we've had then. As it stands, the matches at Bury and Crewe will be going to extra time.
The biggest shock of the night without a doubt would be if Boreham Wood can beat Carlisle of League One. The Conference South side took the lead from the penalty spot and then were awarded another spot kick but it was saved!
If Boreham Wood can see through that result it will emulate the 'cupset' that Brackley Town inflicted on Gillingham last night.

At the JD Stadium, Conference leaders Cambridge are looking the more dangerous against Bury.

INTERNATIONAL UPDATE: Cristiano Ronaldo scores a huge goal for Portugal and now Sweden need three in Stockholm. France are level on aggregate with Ukraine thanks to goals from Sakho and Benzema. In London, Germany lead England thanks to Per Mertesacker's header towards the end of the first half.

By far the biggest attendance of the night is at Scunthorpe, where Conference side Grimsby have taken 2,000-odd fans. They're in fine voice right now as their side close in on victory over their East Coast neighbours.
As we approach the final whistle these are the questions? Will Bury or Cambridge steal a winner? Can Boreham Wood hold out for extra time? Can Braintree take it to extra time against Newport? Will Grimsby down local rivals Scunthorpe? And can York complete an astonishing three-goal comeback?

So there we have it! The second halves were much more exciting than the first and in the end not a single game required the additional 30-minute period. The only game that did finish as a draw was Bury and Cambridge's rescheduled match. They will now contest a replay in two weeks' time.
