Wigan Athletic defender Ivan Ramis joins Levante

Ivan Ramis joins La Liga club Levante on a six-month deal after mutually agreeing to cancel his contract with Championship outfit Wigan Athletic.

Ivan Ramis has joined La Liga club Levante after mutually agreeing to cancel his contract with Championship outfit Wigan Athletic.

The 30-year-old defender signed for the Latics in 2012 from Mallorca, but was out for nearly a year with a serious knee injury.

Wigan manager Malky Mackay told the club's official website: "[Ramis] is not playing at the moment and is out of contract in the summer, and we felt that in both our interests, this was the best solution."

Ramis, who has signed a six-month contract with the option of a further year at Levante, made a total of 57 appearances for the Latics, scoring five goals.
