Ben Watson's goal has given the holders the lead against the Premier League outfit after James McClean clipped a ball into his sliding path on 36 minutes.

Earlier in the game Cameron Jerome, who has been booked for diving, forced Ali Al-Habsi into a good save and Stuart O'Keefe was also denied by the stopper on 14 minutes.

Callum McManaman could only fire into the side-netting for the Championship side on 20 minutes before Watson fired over Julian Speroni's cross bar.

Jonathan Parr suffered what appeared to be a serious injury, and was replaced by Dean Moxey with eight minutes of added time played at the end of the half.
