West Ham United will reportedly be named the preferred bidders for the Olympic Stadium, which was the home of London 2012.

West Ham United will reportedly be given preferred bidder status for the Olympic Stadium in Stratford.

The Premier League outfit have been keen on securing the famous ground for some time and it previously looked in doubt following issues with fellow London club Tottenham Hotspur.

It is believed that senior figures within the Hammers hierarchy are confident that an agreement will be made with the London Legacy Development Corporation board over securing the stadium, according to PA.

While West Ham will not have signed any contracts once being named the preferred bidders of the ground, they will be a step closer to finalising a 99-year lease.

It is understood that funds needed to convert the ground, which will have retractable seating placed over the running track, have been cut down from £40m to £20m.
