Slaven Bilic: 'West Ham United bench decided game'

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic believes that his substitutes made the difference in their 3-1 win away to Crystal Palace.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has hailed the options on his bench after his side's 3-1 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The Hammers eventually overwhelmed the 10-men of Palace with two goals in the final six minutes and Bilic believes that the players he brought on - Andy Carroll, Mauro Zarate and Nikica Jelavic - changed the game.

The Croatian told reporters: "We can afford to have two injuries and one suspension and we can live with that, the guys who came from the bench decided the game.

"You have got to be patient, you have got to stay in the positions, you have got to stretch them, you have got to switch the sides quick, you have got to play with two touches, if possible one touch, until that situation comes when you are one on one on the flanks, where we had that quality."

The result sees West Ham jump into the Champions League places in the Premier League table, with 17 points collected from their first nine games of the season.
