West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke expects an impressive season from Ben Foster with the World Cup looming in summer 2014.

West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke is expecting a big season from his goalkeeper Ben Foster come August.

Clarke believes that the Baggies will benefit from it being a World Cup year, meaning that Foster will be showing that he has what it takes to make England's squad.

After a two-year exile, Foster came out of international retirement in May and Clarke fully expects the former Manchester United shot-stopper to raise his game.

"I think he will benefit from the fact he wants to go and represent his country at the World Cup next year," Clarke told the Birmingham Mail.

"He needs to have a good season. If Ben's ambition is to play for England in the World Cup 2014 in Brazil then West Brom can only benefit from that."

Foster made 30 appearances for West Brom in the Premier League last season, conceding 46 goals.
