A report claims that Mark Hughes has no intention of returning to international management with Wales, as he instead wants to continue working in the top flight.

Sacked Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has reportedly ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Wales managerial position.

The 54-year-old, who took charge of the Dragons for five years up until 2004, is currently out of work after being given his marching orders by the Potters at the weekend.

According to BBC Sport, Hughes has no intention of returning to the international stage as he is instead focused on a swift return to top-flight club management, either in England or abroad.

Football Association of Wales chiefs are in the process of interviewing candidates for the role, which has been vacant since Chris Coleman stepped aside in November.

Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy and Osian Roberts are the three leading candidates to succeed Coleman.
