Sydney FC come from behind twice to deny Adelaide United victory

Sydney FC come from behind twice in their A-League clash to seal a 2-2 draw against Adelaide United at the Coopers Stadium.

Sydney FC managed to come from behind twice in a 2-2 draw to stop Adelaide United from sealing a victory in the A-League at the Coopers Stadium on Friday.

Sydney are still waiting for their first win in five years at Adelaide's ground, but they are the happier of the sides as they managed to deny their opponents from taking all three points.

The first goal was scored inside the first two minutes of the game as Sergio Cirio latched on to a perfectly weighted cross from Stefan Mauk before stabbing the ball into the net from six yards out.

Sydney responded well and were eventually rewarded when Matt Simon headed into the bottom left corner of the net after he picked the ball up from Filip Holosko's cross.

It was an attacking display from both sides, but Adelaide managed to take the lead on the stroke of half time through Cirio, who scored his second with a strike in the box.

Adelaide were preparing to enter the interval with a one-goal cushion, but in the third minute of stoppage time, Milos Ninkovic stormed into the area before picking out Holosko with a pass.

The forward managed to drift past his marker before lifting the ball over defender Jordan Elsey and into the bottom left corner of the net.

In the second half, both sides had opportunities to get the winner and one in particular was squandered by Adelaide. Marcelo Carrusca's cross into the box fell to the feet of Mauk, but he missed a sitter from six yards out as he blazed the ball over the crossbar.

Both goalkeepers were busy, but after a frantic first half, neither side could find the winning goal and they settled for a share of the spoils.
