Swindon Town top after late fightback at Fleetwood Town

Swindon Town fight back from 2-0 down to draw with Fleetwood Town and move the Robins to the top of League One.

Swindon Town have moved into top spot in League One after coming back from two goals down to draw with Fleetwood Town.

The Robins had started brightly at Highbury Stadium, with John Swift coming within inches of forcing an early lead before the Chelsea loanee was brought down by Stephen Jordan for a penalty.

However, Michael Smith was unable to give Swindon the lead as his poor spot kick was easily saved by Chris Maxwell.

The visitors then had their best chance of the opening period as Harry Toffolo rattled the post with Maxwell beaten.

However, Fleetwood took the lead with four minutes of the restart after a marauding run down the left flank from Josh Morris before the midfielder fired a shot that crept inside Wes Foderingham's near post.

Fleetwood doubled their advantage 10 minutes later, with Morris latching on to Stephen Dobbie's cross to score for the Cod Army.

Swindon managed to pull a goal back through Andy Williams to give the League One high-flyers hope of a late resurgence.

The away side then came close to a late equaliser as Jack Stephens's header was turned away by Maxwell.

However, Louis Thompson sealed a dramatic comeback by heading Ben Gladwin's cross into the back of the net to earn a point.
