Swansea City put three past Stoke City

Jonathan de Guzman scores twice as Swansea City cruise to a 3-1 victory over Stoke City.

In a fairly timid first period, chances were few and far between as Swansea City struggled to penetrate a stubborn Stoke defence.

Ki Sung-Yeung wasted the best chance of the first 45 minutes, failing to hit the target following good work from Pablo Hernandez on the right side of midfield.

However, Swansea improved considerably after the break to take control of the match against a below-par Stoke side.

Ben Davies opened the scoring in style for the Welsh club by beating Ryan Shawcross before firing the ball past a helpless Asmir Begovic.

Swansea's lead was doubled less than 10 minutes later thanks to a moment of brilliance from De Guzman as the midfielder whipped in a perfect free kick to leave Begovic grasping at air.

Stoke had a great opportunity to set up a dramatic finale but Cameron Jerome failed to hit the target from close range.

Danny Graham came off the bench to once again make an impact for the hosts, setting up De Guzman for his second of the game to put the result beyond doubt.

However, there was still time for substitute Michael Owen to snatch a consolation goal in stoppage time.
