Swansea chairman "can't believe" promotion

Hugh Jenkins says that the club "can't believe" their promotion to the Premier League.

Swansea chairman Hugh Jenkins has said the club are in disbelief after being promoted to the Premier League.

The Swans ended their 28-year drought from the elite yesterday with a 4-2 playoff victory against Reading at Wembley.

"I got up early this morning to watch the game again and it was definitely the right result," Jenkins told Sky Sports News. "As a club we can't believe it. We're really looking forward to the opportunity."

Jenkins said the promotion, which makes Swansea the first ever Welsh team to make the Premier League, was a result of "hard work, togetherness and team spirit".

"We tried to adopt certain policies and use common sense," he added. "A few people doubted we could even compete in the Championship, but we've shown in the last three years that we can do that. [Now] we've got to continue on the same path."
