Report: Clubs monitor Matt Kilgallon

A report claims that four Championship clubs are interested in signing out-of-contract Sunderland defender Matt Kilgallon.

A host of Championship clubs are believed to be interested in signing out-of-contract Sunderland defender Matt Kilgallon.

The centre-back, who joined the Black Cats in January 2010, has seen his first-team chances limited this season, with the club not offering the versatile defender a new contract.

According to Sky Sports News, as many as four Championship clubs have made contact with his agent, believed to include Wigan Athletic, Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers.

Kilgallon has previously played for Sheffield United and Leeds United.
