Former Lyon, Napoli and Sunderland defender Anthony Reveillere has announced that he is to retire from football at the age of 35.
The ex-France international began his career at Rennes in 1998 but his most successful spell came at Lyon, with whom he won five Ligue 1 titles, two French Cups and played 77 times in the Champions League between 2003 and 2013.
Reveillere has decided to call time on his playing career after receiving few offers after leaving Sunderland in the summer, having made 17 appearances for them last season since signing in October 2014.
"I stopped for lack of offers and also to stay with my children. I had gone to Sunderland alone, so it made me think," he told Canal+.
Reveillere, who also won the Coppa Italia with Napoli, made 20 appearances for France and was included in the squads for the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.
