Stuttgart secure huge win over Freiburg

Stuttgart move out of the Bundesliga drop zone with a 2-0 win over Freiburg on Saturday.

Stuttgart have managed a huge win at home on Saturday afternoon by seeing off Freiburg 2-0.

After a very tense opening, the first half-chance of the game fell to Freiburg and Vladimir Darida, who shot from outside the box but could only find the stands.

Karim Guede then had an excellent chance from a corner as the visitors pressed, but after winning the header he could only tamely put his effort wide.

Stuttgart centre-back Antonio Rudiger was next to test his opposite goalkeeper with a header after 20 minutes, but in the end Oliver Baumann did not need to do a lot to keep it out.

There were half-chances both ways, but the vital opening goal came on 69 minutes through Alexandru Maxim, who was found by Ibrahima Traore to finish low from inside the box. It was a huge goal for Stuttgart, which moved them out of the relegation zone at the full-time whistle after Martin Harnik doubled their lead late on.
