Mark Hughes agrees new Stoke City deal

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes extends his stay at the Britannia Stadium until 2018.

Stoke City have announced that manager Mark Hughes has agreed to extend his contract at the club until 2018.

Hughes's existing deal was due to expire in 2016, but after impressing during his time at the Britannia Stadium, the Potters hierarchy have moved to secure the future of the 51-year-old.

The Welshman was brought in by Stoke to replace the outgoing Tony Pulis in 2013, and the former Manchester City and Fulham boss was able to guide the club to ninth place in the Premier League table, their highest finish since 1975.

Stoke have enjoyed another relatively successful campaign in Hughes's second campaign in charge, with the club currently competing for eighth place with both West Ham United and Swansea City.
