Mark Hughes hits out at officials following Stoke City defeat

Stoke boss Mark Hughes believes that key decisions went against his side during their 2-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has hit out at the officials following his side's defeat to Crystal Palace.

The Potters were beaten 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday as they suffered their second consecutive loss in the Premier League.

Hughes believes that Palace's equaliser from the penalty spot should have been a free kick the other way and that the hosts should have had a penalty of their own in the second half for a handball by Joel Ward.

"[Yannick Bolasie] has got his foot above [Asmir Begovic]'s shoulder, so I thought it should have been a free kick to us for dangerous play," the Welshman told Sky Sports News.

"Second half, we peppered their goal. Their keeper has made some outstanding saves, and we have had balls going across the box that only needed to be converted. But I have to say the best save of the match was from one of their defenders, who came out and did a great smothering save.

"It should have been a stonewall penalty. Why has Andre Marriner not given that? He was only 10 yards away, he can see what the lad has done."

Stoke return to Premier League action on April 4 when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
