Lazio are reportedly in talks with Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris over a potential move to Serie A this summer, with Real Madrid also keeping tabs on the Frenchman.

Hugo Lloris has reportedly opened talks with Lazio ahead of a potential move away from Tottenham Hotspur in this summer's transfer window.

The 2018 World Cup winner has recently expressed his desire for a new challenge in football and is in the process of locating his next team outside of the Premier League.

Lloris featured in 25 league matches for Spurs last season as they finished in eighth, meaning that the Lilywhites do not have any form of European football in the 2023-24 term.

Former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou now has the reins in North London, and it is understood that the Australian will not have the French shot-stopper in his squad by the end of the window.

According to RMC Sport, Serie A outfit Lazio are in discussions with Lloris over a potential switch from the Premier League to Italy this summer.

It is believed that the Italians have reached out to the 36-year-old over a possible deal and are now waiting to hear back from the keeper before progressing further in the arrangement.

The report adds that Lloris is keen on a move to Lazio, given that they would be able to offer the 145-time international Champions League football in the 2023-24 term.

Maurizio Sarri's men finished second in Serie A last season behind Napoli, meaning that they will compete in UEFA's elite club competition for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign.

Lloris has not featured for Spurs during their pre-season tour of Asia as they prepare for a crucial Premier League season, with Postecoglou deciding to focus his energy on players who want to be at the club for the long term.

The North Londoners moved early in the summer window to find a replacement for the Frenchman, recruiting Guglielmo Vicario from Serie A outfit Empoli for around £16m.

The report also claims that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Lloris's situation following a serious injury suffered by Thibaut Courtois during pre-season.

The former Chelsea stopper sustained an ACL injury earlier this month and could be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign, meaning that Los Blancos are in the market for a new name in between the sticks.

Although Carlo Ancelotti's men are admirers of the Spurs stopper, it is understood that there are several names ahead of Lloris on their shortlist, including Sevilla keeper Yassine Bounou.

The 32-year-old impressed at the World Cup in Qatar last year, helping Morocco reach the semi-finals in December before being defeated by Lloris's France.
