Tottenham expect to secure the signing of Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor by the end of the week.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed that the club are close to signing Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

The 27-year-old, who spent a loan stint at Real Madrid last season, was reportedly close to a move to White Hart Lane until wage demands halted the deal.

Despite this issue, Redknapp has admitted that the club are working on a deal to bring the striker to London.

“I'm not sure what stage it is at. The chairman is dealing with it,” the Daily Mail quotes Redknapp as saying.

Reports suggest that the Togo international will be a Tottenham player by the end of the week.
