Tottenham Hotspur reportedly launch a £17m move for Valencia striker Roberto Soldado.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly offered Valencia £17m for Spanish international striker Roberto Soldado.

The 28-year-old was in fine form for Los Che last season, earning a Spain recall for the Confederations Cup after scoring 28 goals in La Liga.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is desperate to add attacking options this summer and is ready to test Valencia's resolve to keep their top scorer in the close season, according to the Daily Star.

Valencia have well-documented financial problems, leading to construction work on a new stadium remaining untouched since 2009.

New coach Miroslav Djukic is under pressure to sell key players to ease that financial burden, but Soladado's contract reportedly contains a minimum release clause of £26m.
