Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly showing an interest in Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, who has a £17.4m release clause in his contract.

Tottenham Hotspur target Serhou Guirassy reportedly has a £17.4m release clause in his Stuttgart contract.

Spurs decided against signing a direct replacement for Harry Kane in the summer after their all-time leading scorer completed a move to Bayern Munich.

There were concerns about how Spurs would fare following Kane's departure, but those fears have been allayed in the opening stages of the season.

Tottenham are yet to lose a Premier League game under Ange Postecoglou, who has seen his side pick up 23 points from nine matches to move to the top of the table.

Having scored seven goals league goals this season, Spurs captain Son Heung-min has helped fill the void left by Kane.

However, Tottenham are still keen to recruit a new striker in January, especially with Son expected to miss a few weeks of action in the new year, with the South Korea international set to represent his country in the Asia Cup.

With Spurs searching for a new forward, they have been one of a number of clubs linked with Stuttgart's Guirassy.

The Guinea international is currently the Bundesliga's top scorer after racking up 14 goals in eight league matches.

Impressively, the 27-year-old has scored two hat-tricks in wins over Mainz and Wolfsburg, while he also netted braces against Bochum and Freiburg.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Guirassy has a release clause in his contract which can be activated in January.

The clause is reported to be less than €20m (£17.4m), making him a relatively cheap option for any potential suitor.

While the player's release clause may entice Spurs, Guirassy reportedly has no intention of leaving Stuttgart in the January transfer window.

Guirassy is determined to see out the remainder of the season with the Bundesliga club, which could force Tottenham to wait until the summer before pursuing a deal.

The Stuttgart man, who has a contract until June 2026, is expected to miss the next three weeks of action with a muscle injury.
