Former Tottenham Hotspur manager David Pleat believes that Gareth Bale should wait until next summer before moving to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old Welshman is reportedly Madrid's top transfer target this summer, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to reject an £86m bid for the winger, despite his interest in a move to Los Blancos.
"I doubt he'd find it easy. Many have failed when they have moved overseas. One or two have succeeded, but not many. Most have had a difficult time," Pleat told reporters.
"I think he is young to go, but he might feel that with his partner and baby, it will be a new start for him.
"But I think it might be better if he stayed, continued to work and maybe next summer leave if that is his wish."
Bale scored 21 goals in 31 Premier League starts for the Lillywhites last season.
