Real Madrid assistant manager Aitor Karanka has said that Luka Modric would "fit in" at the Bernabeu.
The 26-year-old has been the subject of a transfer tug of war since the end of last season, leading the player to take absence from training.
Madrid have reportedly offered around £27m for the Croatian playmaker, a figure that figure falls well short of Spurs' asking price, which is believed to be set at around £40m.
Karanka has now fuelled speculation that Modric is on his way to the club.
"Tell me a club that wouldn't want a player like him?" said the Spaniard. "He's a very talented player who had a great European Championship.
"It's clear he would fit in at Madrid."
Modric has now returned to training.
