Aston Villa striker Darren Bent has insisted that he would welcome Jermain Defoe to the club.
Villa have been linked with a move for the Tottenham Hotspur striker this summer, and Bent believes that he would be "a fantastic addition".
"Competition is always good. We've still got some fantastic strikers at the club. Gabby is injured, Weimann came in did and really well, Nathan Delfouneso looks like he's ready to peak and it's his time," he told Sky Sports News.
"If the manager decides he wants to bring someone else in as well, it's only going to help Aston Villa football club. Defoe is a top international striker. He's a great finisher, he can score goals and make goals for himself. He'd be a fantastic addition."
Bent scored 10 goals for Villa last season.
