Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Joe Jordan believes that Tottenham Hotspur showed they would not be bullied into selling their best players by spurning numerous offers for Luka Modric from Chelsea in the summer.
The Scottish coach was speaking after Spanish and European champions Barcelona confirmed their interest in Spurs winger Gareth Bale.
"I am confident we will keep Bale," said the Jordan. "I think it's great that you get arguably the best team in the world talking about our players and I don't see that it causes us a problem.
"Did the Modric saga show we won't be bullied into selling players? Yes, I think that was the stance and that was proved.
"I think we've shown that we can retain players and brought players in."
Bale recently revealed that he was flattered by the speculation linking him with Barca.
